- The Department of Management in the College of Business Administration invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Operations Management. Georgia Southern University (www.georgiasouthern.edu), a member institution of the University System of Georgia and a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University, is one of Georgia’s premier universities. A residential university serving more than 20,500 students, Georgia Southern is recognized for providing all of the benefits of a major university with the feeling of a much smaller college. Founded in 1906, the University offers more than 100 campus-based and online degree programs at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels through eight colleges. The more than 900 acre park-like campus is located in Statesboro, a classic Main Street community near historic Savannah and Hilton Head Island.
Within this setting, the Department of Management offers undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration degree programs. The College offers a traditional on campus and fully online MBA degree along with an online MS in Applied Economics. The college also offers the university’s only Ph.D. program, with a major in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The Department of Management contributes significantly to MBA programs and the Ph.D program. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the college’s goal of achieving national distinction in research and teaching. Delivery of both graduate and undergraduate courses online may be required.
Position Description. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Management, the position requires research, teaching and service responsibilities as well as a terminal degree in management. The ability to contribute to a positive collegial work environment in the Department, College, and University is also expected. The position is a 9-month tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or DBA in Operations Management or a closely related field from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited institution by August 1, 2014;
• Evidence of the ability to develop, execute and maintain a strong, steady research agenda;
• Evidence of the potential for above average teaching ability;
• Willingness to teach via web-based instruction;
• For appointment at the associate professor rank, a minimum of 4 years full-time university-level teaching experience at the rank of assistant professor is required, along with a strong record of research, teaching and service, with publications and presentations in academic and professional venues.
